The husband and wife team of Terry and Anna King learned their
craft while apprenticing and working under the very notable Dorothy and
Walter Auman of the Seagrove Pottery. It was by reopening Joe Owen's
shop in 1987 that King's Pottery was born. The pottery moved to its present location in 1991.
From the start Terry and Anna focused on folk art starting with face jugs and grape cluster pitchers.
Today at King's Pottery you find a large display of folk art such as face jugs, Noah's arks, lion figurals,
sheep figurals, snake jugs and much more. Also carried is traditional stoneware.
Pottery is all in the family with the Kings. Daughter Crystal, whose work
is also featured in Salem House,
makes the fifth generation of potters.
The King's work is on display in many museums and galleries across he nation, including
the Smithsonian Institution
the Mint Museum of Charlotte, NC
the Davidson County Museum of Art in Lexington, NC
Old Salem, NC
and many more
